Where misfits, ghosts, chefs, musicians, mystics, scientists, activists, artists, and writers all come together.

Two and a half years ago, I began remodeling an old mud house in Santa Fe, NM with the dream of eventually turning it into an artist residency. It will be a place for artists of all kinds, for writers and scientists, for farmers and chefs, for socially engaged thinkers and activists—to stay, to create, to rest and recharge, to nourish themselves. While writing my first book, I found that time spent at various artist residencies was an invaluable resource in completing the work. I now want to give this opportunity back to others.

I have taught myself numerous construction skills including demo, carpentry, plastering, tiling, plumbing, electric, and moving heavy stuff around. I’ve been joking that Casa Spiriti is the House of Many Names, as my feelings towards the project have changed with each trial and tribulation. It has been a House of Delight, Casa Impossible, an Abode and a Disaster Dungeon. But it has been a house made by hand. This process has been one of tremendous personal growth and healing. There have been many tears and lots of laughter. I have found a wonderful community that has helped me to complete this project, and I can't wait to give back by opening the house to guests and artists-in-residence.

I will begin taking bookings for Casa Spirit in mid-2024. Stay up to date and follow the journey on Instagram in the meantime.
